CHLOE JIYEONG MUN

At the age of 18, pianist Chloe Jiyeong Mun came to the world's attention in 2014 when she won first prize at the Geneva International Competition in Switzerland. In 2015, she also claimed victory at the Busoni International Competition in Italy. Since then, she has garnered a reputation as one of the most sought-after musicians of her generation.
She has collaborated with leading conductors worldwide, including Myung-whun Chung, Alexander Shelley, Yuri Bashmet, James Judd, Roberto Beltran Zavala, Victor Pablo Perez, Mario Venzago, and Eiji Oue, performing with renowned orchestras such as the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande, Moscow Soloists, Asia Philharmonic Orchestra, Japan Philharmonic Orchestra, Trieste Verdi Orchestra, Nuova Orchestra Ferruccio Busoni, St. Petersburg Symphony Orchestra, Palermo Festival Orchestra, MAV Symphony Orchestra, Orquesta y Coro de la Comunidad de Madrid (ORCAM), Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra, KBS Symphony Orchestra, and Korean National Symphony Orchestra.
For recitals, she has appeared at the Gewandhaus, Wigmore Hall, Warsaw Philharmonic, Salle Cortot, Philharmonie Arthur Rubinstein in Bydgoszcz, and Seoul Arts Center. She has also performed at prestigious festivals including Chopin and His Europe, Duszniki Chopin Festival, Arthur Rubinstein Piano Festival, Festival Omaggio di Michelangeli, and Pharos Music Festival. Chloe released her debut album, "Schumann Piano Sonata No.1 & Fantasie," with Deutsche Grammophon.
Additionally, as a dedicated chamber musician, she is annually invited to perform at the Seoul Spring Festival of Chamber Music and Seoul International Music Festival. In 2021, she premiered Jeajoon Ryu's Sonata for Viola and Piano at the Seoul Arts Center with violist Sangjin Kim.
Born in Yeosu, South Korea in 1995, Chloe began studying piano at the age of five. She studied with Professor Daejin Kim at the Korea National University of Arts from 2010 to 2020 and in 2022-2023 as an Artist Diploma student at the Barenboim Said Academy with Sir András Schiff.
During the season 2024-2025, she will be part of Sir András Schiff concert series “Building Bridges”, and will perform at Chigiana Festival, Michelangeli Festival, Ferruccio Busoni Festival, Chamber Music Northwest in Portland, Festival Rencontres Musicales de Noyers, Canstatter Klavierfrühling.

2014년 18살의 나이로 스위스 제네바 국제 콩쿠르에서 1위와 청중상을 수상한 피아니스트 문지영은 이듬해 이탈리아 부조니 국제 콩쿠르에서 동양인 최초 우승과 함께 베토벤 협주곡 특별상, 현대곡 특별상을 포함한 다섯 개의 특별상을 받으며 세계 무대에 이름을 알렸다. 그 후 활발한 연주 활동을 통해 가장 주목 받는 젊은 음악가이자 피아니스트로 명성을 쌓고 있다. 1957년 두 콩쿠르에서 모두 우승한 피아노 여제 마르타 아르헤리치의 행보를 닮은 연주자라는 평가를 받고 있는 문지영은 부조니 콩쿠르의 심사위원장 외르크 데무스로부터 ‘이 시대에서는 사라졌다고 생각했던 음악성의 자연스러움을 그녀에게서 발견했다’는 극찬을 받았다.
문지영은 정명훈을 비롯하여 유리 바슈메트, 알렉산더 셸리, 에이지 오우에, 빅토르 파블로 페레즈, 마리오 벤자고, 제임스 저드, 요엘 레비 등의 지휘로 스위스 로망드 오케스트라, 아시아 필하모닉 오케스트라, 모스크바 솔로이스츠, 재팬 필하모닉 오케스트라, 이탈리아 트리에스테 베르디 극장 오케스트라, 올림피코 극장 오케스트라, 부조니 누오바 오케스트라, 상트페테르부르크 심포니, 마드리드 주립 오케스트라 등 세계 정상급 오케스트라와 협연무대를 가졌으며, 국내 무대에서는 서울시향, KBS교향악단, 국립심포니오케스트라, 수원시향, 대전시향, 강남심포니오케스트라, 대구시향, 부산시향, 울산시향 등 다수의 오케스트라와 협연을 이어오고 있다.
또한 라이프치히 게반트하우스, 프라하 루돌피눔, 폴란드 바르샤바 필하모닉홀, 비드고슈치 아르투르 루빈스타인 필하모니, 런던 위그모어홀, 비엔나 무지크페라인, 벨기에 플라제, 부다페스트 리스트 아카데미 등 전 세계 저명한 공연장에서 연주했고, 바르샤바 쇼팽과 그의 유럽 페스티벌, 두슈니키 쇼팽 페스티벌, 이탈리아 아르투로 베네데티 미켈란젤리 페스티벌, 슐로스 엘마우 페스티벌, 로켄하우스 페스티벌, 루돌프 피르쿠슈니 페스티벌, 포트랜드 페스티벌 등에서 초청을 받았다.
문지영은 2012년부터 2019년까지 한국예술종합학교 영재교육원, 예술사, 전문사를 거치며 피아니스트 김대진을 사사했고, 2022-23년 베를린 바렌보임 사이드 아카데미에서 안드라스 쉬프 경의 사사로 아티스트 디플로마 과정을 수학했다.
2017년 도이치 그라모폰에서 데뷔 음반 ‘슈만’을 발표했다. 매년 다양한 레퍼토리에 도전하며 그녀만의 탄탄한 길을 다져가고 있으며, 실내악에 많은 열정을 가져 여러 연주자들과 듀오, 실내악 활동을 꾸준히 해오고 있다. 다가오는 시즌에는 안드라스 쉬프 경의 제안으로 런던 위그모어홀, 스위스 클로스터 페스티벌, 에르넨 페스티벌, 비엔나 무지크페라인 등에서 그와 함께 슈베르트 포핸즈 리사이틀들이 예정되어 있다.
